## Before you start

Exact offers different products and regional environments. Confirm that your developer account, test administration, and application are created in the same country or region that you intend to test.

## Register an Exact Online application

1. Obtain Exact Online developer access for the relevant region.
2. Create or select a test administration.
3. Register an application in the Exact Online App Center.
4. Use the redirect URI displayed in the Zwapgrid System Setting.
5. Store the generated Client ID and Client Secret securely.
6. Confirm the application's scopes cover every API.1 and Proxy.1 operation you plan to use.

Exact's available subscription and application-management options can differ by market. Follow the regional instructions shown in your Exact account.

## Configure Zwapgrid

1. In the Client Portal, open **Systems → Exact Online → Configure**.
2. Create a System Setting for the Exact application.
3. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret.
4. Confirm that the registered redirect URI matches the value displayed by Zwapgrid.
5. Save, review, and publish the setting.

See [System Settings](/client-portal/systems/system-settings.md) for lifecycle and Consent-selection rules.

## Test and move to production

1. Create a Development Consent using the published setting.
2. Connect the test administration through the [Onboarding Flow](/onboarding-flow/onboarding-flow.md).
3. Test all required operations and company-selection behaviour.
4. Confirm Exact's current production and App Center requirements before customer rollout.
5. Use a separate production System Setting when the vendor issues different credentials.

{% hint style="info" %}
If the authorisation flow opens the wrong Exact region or cannot find the expected administration, first confirm the region of the Exact account and registered application.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.zwapgrid.com/client-portal/systems/setup-guides/exact-online.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
